FIRST JEAN LAFITTE TOWN MARKET TAKES PLACE THIS SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2017

JEAN LAFITTE, La. –The Town of Jean Lafitte hosts its first town market this Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 920 Jean Lafitte Blvd., Jean Lafitte.

The Jean Lafitte Town Market includes vendors selling fresh seafood, food by local restaurants and arts and crafts by local artists. The band Junior and Sumtin’ Sneaky will take the stage at 1 p.m.

“This is our inaugural town market in Jean Lafitte, the first in a series of monthly events,” said Town of Jean Lafitte Mayor Tim Kerner. “It’s a chance for our community and visitors from across the area to get together in Jean Lafitte to purchase fresh seafood from the source. We will also offer food prepared by local restaurants, local arts and crafts and live music.”

The event will take place at the town’s newly opened Jules Nunez Seafood Pavilion and AJ & Sheron Fabre Market on Bayou Barataria.  The Seafood Pavilion features booths for fishermen to sell directly to the public, and the Market includes a stage for live music and an area for seating as well as eating facilities and a deck-covered patio overlooking Bayou Barataria.  Food will include: seafood gumbo, catfish, jambalaya. chicken pasta, shrimp remoulade, fried soft shell crab poboys, shrimp poboys, crawfish rolls, crab balls, pulled pork, potato salad, boudin balls and alligator mushrooms.
