The Louisiana Iris is a symbol of our state’s beauty, culture and resilience. These native wildflowers can be seen from late March to early April blooming in our swamps and bayous. We encourage you to visit Lafitte’s Wetland Trace, a one-mile boardwalk over the swamp to see Louisiana Irises in the wild. You can park at Lafitte’s Barataria Museum at 4917 City Park Dr, Jean Lafitte, LA 70067. The trail begins at the end of City Park Dr. All are welcome. Please remember to respect the wildlife.
